Corns

Are Corns Causing you Pain?

Corns are small, round areas of thickened hard skin that often appear on the toes, between the
toes, or on weight-bearing areas such as the ball of the foot. They develop because of
ongoing pressure or rubbing — your body’s way of trying to protect that area.

Unfortunately, they can quickly become uncomfortable or even feel sharp, making everyday
walking painful. With regular treatment, corns can be managed effectively — and in many
cases cleared altogether — helping your feet feel comfortable again.

Types of Corn

Corns can form for several reasons, including tight footwear, the shape of your feet, or the way you walk. The three most common types are:

Hard Corns
These can feel like a small stone pressing into your foot. They’re firm, concentrated areas of hard skin and are usually most painful when pressure is applied.

Soft Corns
These form between the toes where the skin is moist. They look white and rubbery, and are often caused by the toes rubbing together.

Seed Corns
These are very small, seed-like hard skin plugs, usually found on drier areas of the foot. Despite their size, they can be surprisingly uncomfortable.

Regular treatment helps stop corns from becoming painful and reduces how often they come
back.
